Biography: Samer Tamimi, US-based Hill’s principal executive on the Riyadh metro project, is an engineer and project management professional with more than 20 years’ experience in managing multimillion-dollar schemes, including light rail and advanced intelligent transportation systems.

Hill was awarded a $265m project management consultancy contract on the Riyadh Metro in a joint venture with the US’ Louis Berger to oversee lines 4, 5 and 6. Since joining Hill in 2004, Tamimi has worked on plans for a transit system for Dubai International Financial Centre and has managed road projects in Al-Ain in the UAE.

Previously, he led the development of the first light rail system in Seattle in the US as construction manager for the local Sound Transit. Tamimi has a master’s degree and a doctorate in civil engineering from the University of Colorado in the US.
