Saudi Airlines signs $900m Rolls-Royce deal

08 April 2009

Saudi Arabian Airlines has signed a $900m deal with Rolls-Royce to use the company's Trent 700EP engines on up to 12 of its Airbus A330 planes, with delivery starting from 2010. The contract, which includes a long-term service agreement, is a firm order for use on eight planes with an option to use the engine on another four. The Trent Enhanced Performance engines have reduced fuel burn and emission levels, which is considered important for Middle East operations because it helps the aircraft fly further with more passengers in hot, high altitude conditions.
