Entrant: Schneider Electric
Project owner: Jabal Omar Development Company
EPC contractor: Nesma & Partners
Consultants: Socotec; Khatib & Alami
Architects: DEP; CC
Project management company: Hill International
Description: The project comprises 40 towers of between 20 and 48 storeys. The complex will accommodate approximately 44,000 people for most of the year, and in excess of 100,000 during the Ramadan and Hajj seasons. The towers have been carefully located to take account of the sloping topography of the site and to maximise their views of the Grand Mosque and its Al-Haram Piazza. The towers will house permanent residences, seasonal residences, and hotels with five- and four-star ratings and super-luxury six-star rooms. The main hotel, housed in symmetrical twin towers with an interconnecting upper bridge, will form a major landmark and serve as a gateway to the Grand Mosque.
