King Salman admitted to King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh

Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, 84, has been hospitalised for medical tests.

A royal court statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency said the leader had entered King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh to receive tests due to cholecystitis.

Cholecystitis is defined as inflammation of the gall bladder.

News of King Salman's hospital visit comes after Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, 91, was admitted to hospital on 18 July for medical check-ups.

A decree was issued for Kuwait Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah to temporarily take over some constitutional jurisdictions from the country’s emir, state news agency Kuna reported.
