Saudi Arabia's Tabuk airport tenders second phase

03 September 2013

Tabuk airport tender deadline set for 22 October

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (Gaca) has tendered for civil works for phase two of the renovation of Tabuk airport. The deadline for bids is 22 October.

The additional renovation work follows the opening of the upgraded regional airport in March 2011. The $72m upgrade included the expansion of the airport by 12,000 square metres and featured a new arrival and departure lounges.

Tabuk airport is just one of Saudi Arabia’s interior airports currently being expanded. There has also been a tender issued for the main construction contract for Abha airport. The bid deadline for that tender is 22 September.

Bid prices are also being assessed for a contract covering runway improvement and renovation for seven local airports: Abha, Tabuk, Baha, Rafta, Tarif, Qysuma and Sharoura. No formal agreement has been signed so far, but the likely contender for the deal is said to be Saudi Arabia’s Al-Mabani Group.
