Winning firm will design new facilities at the Abu Ali and Khursaniyah plants
Saudi Aramco has awarded Canadas SNC-Lavalin a contract to provide engineering and project management services for its Berri Increment Programme.
The new facilities will be developed at the existing Abu Ali and Khursaniyah plants to process the potential increased output of Arabian Light crude from the Berri Field on the east coast of the kingdom.
SNC Lavalins scope of work includes front-end engineering design (feed) for a new 250,000 barrel-a-day gas oil separation plant at the Abu Ali Gas Plant, as well as additional facilities at the Khursaniyah Gas Plant that will process 40 million barrels a-day of hydrocarbons condensate.
The front end engineering design project was due to begin by the end of April and the pre-construction services are expected to be completed by August 2018. The scope of SNC-Lavalins contract may also be widened to include providing technical support services for the construction phase.
In January this year, Aramco awarded SNC Lavalin a five-year extension to its existing General Engineering Services Plus (GES+) contract.
Under the contract, SNC-Lavalin will be invited to bid on front-end engineering, detailed engineering and project management services to support the implementation of Saudi Aramcos capital and sustaining capital programmes.
Projects will include onshore oil and gas production and processing facilities, building and infrastructure projects, as well as refining and petrochemical facilities.
