Oil company awards just under $1bn worth of construction contracts in the last three months
- Local firm Azmeel Contracting awarded Aramco housing contracts
- Work on al-Dharan project expected to start at the end of the month
The local Azmeel Contracting has been awarded an estimated SR1bn ($270m) contract by Saudi Aramco for the construction of housing units in Dharan.
According to sources close to the project work on the 266 units, which are part of package 6 of the Dharan staff compound in the Eastern Province, is expected to start at the end of the month.
Azmeel was also awarded a $240m contract for the construction of housing units in the Jubail area. Construction has already started on the project which is expected to be complete within 24 months according to a company spokesperson.
In March MEED reported that the UAEs Arabtec Holding announced that its Saudi Arabian subsidiary, Arabtec Construction, was also awarded a AED1bn ($272m) contract
The contract, which is expected to be completed within 28 months, involves the design, construction, completion and maintenance of 380 villas, as well as all associated external works.
