Saudi Aramco is expected to launch tenders later this year for two of its offshore fields in July to build facilities to expand two of its offshore oil fields.
Aramco might issue the construction tender for its Marjan oil field in July, and the tender for the Berri oilfield expansion is expected by the third or fourth quarter of this year, according to a report by news agency Reuters.
International engineering and construction firms have expressed interest in bidding to build oil and gas facilities at Marjan, whose development is expected to cost more than $10bn. The expansion will increase the capacity of Marjan, currently at 500,000 barrels a day, by 300,000 b/d of Arab medium crude.
Costs for the Berri development are estimated to be between $6bn-8bn.
The construction awards for Marjan and Berri are expected to be awarded next year and both projects are expected to be completed in 2022.
In January, Aramco awarded US-based McDermott a contract for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of 13 jackets in Aramco’s offshore fields of Zuluf, Marjan, Berri and Abu Safah.
