Saudi oil giant had extended bid submission deadline from November to January

Contractors are preparing to submit bids on 6 January for a key onshore package that is part of Saudi Aramco’s $14bn-$15bn Marjan field development.

Package 6 of the Marjan megaproject relates to building general oil processing facilities at the Tanajib oil complex, to enable the main gas oil separation plant (GOSP) at Tanajib to process an additional 300,000 barrels a day (b/d) of Arab Medium crude coming from the Marjan field.

The value of the main engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work on this package is estimated to be $1.45bn.

Aramco had initially set a deadline of 22 November for prequalified contractors to submit bids for the EPC works.

According to regional projects tracker MEED Projects, the following companies have been selected by the project owner to bid for the package:

  • Tecnicas Reunidas (Spain)/Samsung Engineering (South Korea)
  • Saipem (Italy)
  • SK Engineering & Construction (South Korea)
  • Daewoo Engineering & Construction (South Korea)
  • Petrofac (UK)
  • Larsen & Toubro (India)
  • JGC Corporation (Japan)
  • GS Engineering & Construction (South Korea)

Aramco has tendered several jobs within the Marjan megaproject in close to 20 separate packages.

The packages are in different stages of the contract tendering process.

By way of this megaproject, Aramco is looking to raise the Marjan oil and gas field’s overall production and processing capacity from the current 500,000 b/d by building supporting infrastructure and GOSPs.
