Saudi contractor wins Jubail housing deal

Abdullah al-Mishal Contracting will construct 516 villas in Jubail Industrial City

Index Saudi Investment Group has appointed a contractor for work on a $230m housing complex it is developing at Jubail Industrial City.

The contract, which is for the construction of 516 villas, was awarded to the local Abdullah al-Mishal Contracting.

The local Afnia Engineering Consultants is the main consultant on the project, which is expected to be completed by 2018.

Also in Jubail, Saudi Aramco recently appointed the local Nesma & Partners as the main contractor for a $1.5bn residential camp to serve staff working on the Fadhili gas plant.

It is understood Nesma has been awarded two of the three packages, with the final package still being negotiated.

The scope of work includes the construction of 2,000 villas, infrastructure work and all associated facilities.
