Local real estate developer Dar al-Arkan has completed the world’s tallest 3D-printed building in Saudi Arabia using technology from Denmark-based COBOD.

The three-story villa is 9.9 metres tall and is located in Shams al-Riyadh to the northwest of the capital.

The first floor has an area of 130 square metres (sq m) and includes a spacious hall with several living areas and a kitchen.

The second floor is 140 sq m and has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room and a balcony.

The third floor is a roof annexe that holds a maid’s room with a bathroom, a multipurpose hall and a laundry room.

COBOD said in a statement that low-cost local materials were used at a cost of less than €10,000 ($9,967) to create the 3D printable concrete.

COBOD has also partnered with Orascom Construction to bring 3D-printing construction technology to Egypt for the first time.

The partnership will mainly focus on three business lines: project execution, equipment sales, and operation and maintenance.

The partnership will also continue to explore various opportunities in the Egyptian market for utilising 3D-printing technology in printing entire buildings.
