Senior executives will convene at the Crowne Plaza Riyadh RDC Hotel & Convention Centre in Riyadh to give a comprehensive overview of the kingdom's Public Investment Fund (PIF)-backed projects.

These include Neom in the northwest of the country, Qiddiya entertainment city near Riyadh, Roshn’s projects across the kingdom, the Diriyah Gate project in Riyadh and Red Sea Global’s projects including The Red Sea Project and Amaala on the west coast.

There will also be presentations on other major projects such as the Green Riyadh project, Al-Ula touristic development, King Salman Park, Riyadh Sports Boulevard, Rua al-Madinah and the New Murabba project planned in Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia’s giga project programme consists of a series of touristic, residential, commercial and industrial projects designed to diversify the economy and support the kingdom’s economic transformation efforts, with an emphasis on green and sustainable development.

The giga projects are a core component of Vision 2030 and will be the catalysts for opening new areas of economic activity, creating jobs, and highlighting efforts for social and cultural diversification.

These projects are driving spectacular growth in the construction sector, as documented by MEED’s Saudi Gigaprojects report, which explores the activity on the more than 17 projects representing a total value of more than $850bn across the Kingdom as part of its gigaproject build-up.

The opportunities are already present today. According to regional projects tracker MEED Projects, as of 6 December, the five official gigaprojects had awarded $49.8bn of contracts, just $200m short of the $50bn mark.

Construction will also be on the agenda the next day with MEED’s Mena Construction Summit on 14 May, which will also be held at the Crowne Plaza Riyadh RDC Hotel & Convention Centre in Riyadh.
