Oil services group to supply valves to local contractor for pipelines and processing plant
Oil services giant Schlumberger has been awarded a SR150m ($40m) contract to supply equipment for the construction of Saudi Aramcos Master Gas System Expansion and Fadhili Gas Plant projects, according to a source familiar with the deal.
The contract was awarded by local engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) group Saudi KAD, which is carrying out various packages on the two projects.
Schlumberger will supply large-diameter ball valves to Saudi KAD.
As part of the contract, Saudi KAD has requested Schlumberger to use its new facility in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, to do the final testing and other activities to meet targets for carrying out the work In-Kingdom, the source told MEED.
The Schlumberger Middle East Center for Reliability and Efficiency was opened in Dammam Second Industrial City in early 2016.
Aramco CEO Amin Nasser said at the time that the facility would support Aramcos In-Kingdom Total Value Add (IKTVA) programme to increase local content across the oil producers supply chain.
Saudi KAD was awarded contracts worth over $1bn combined in 2016 on two Aramco megaprojects.
