It will comprise a Wild West section with restaurants and an oil derrick free-fall ride, an Egyptian tomb zone, an adventure zone, a flying carpet ride, the Seven Voyages of Sinbad ride and other themed entertainment from Western and Arab cultures.

ITPS says it is also considering a later expansion of the park to include an African safari theme park on a nearby hillside.

The park, which will be built on a 107,000-square-metre plot of land located in Haret al-Sit, near Jamhour, is expected to generate some 200 jobs and cater for around 1,400-3,000 visitors a day. The park will be themed on Mediterranean cities such as Ibiza, Athens and Carthage.

It will include an old-style souk, a bird show, a 1,200-seat amphitheatre, musical fountains, concert facilities, a rollercoaster, a mirror maze and a miniature park.
