Biography: Shankar Krishnamoorthy is the CEO and president for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa at GDF Suez Energy International. The firm led a consortium that signed energy conversion and water purchase agreements for the Al-Zour North IWPP. The scheme is not only a key project for Kuwait’s power sector, but is also the pathfinder scheme for the country’s $30bn PPP programme.
Krishnamoorthy joined GDF Suez in 1997 and served as the CEO of Indian operations, based in Bangalore, and also as chief of business development for the Asia and Africa regions. In January 2007, he was appointed executive vice-president and head of business development for the Middle East, North Africa, Turkey and India.
Krishnamoorthy has been involved in the development of several major IWPPs in the Middle East.
