Biography: Sheikh Ali bin Jassim bin Mohammad al-Thani is the chairman and managing director of Qatar’s Milaha, one of the largest diversified maritime and logistics companies in the Middle East. Milaha will be working closely with the New Doha Port and will benefit from the increased capacity and improved services the new facility will offer.
Since his appointment in 2009, Sheikh Ali has overseen the merger of three large Qatari maritime companies – Qatar Navigation, Qatar Shipping and Halul Offshore – into Milaha.
He began his career at Qatar’s Finance Ministry as an analyst and was later given responsibility for managing direct investments on behalf of Qatar’s Investment Bureau, which later became Qatar Investment Authority, of which he is now a director. He has a bachelor of science degree from Portland State University in the US.
