Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum
Position: Chairman, DIFC
Biography: As chairman of the higher board of governors of DIFC, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum oversees all three bodies involved in the development and operation of DIFC: the DIFC Authority; the DIFC Courts; and the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA).
Sheikh Maktoum was appointed both chairman and president of DIFC in August 2011. He is the son of Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum and in 2008, he was appointed deputy ruler of Dubai.
He has been chairman of Dubai Media Incorporated and chairman of Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority since 2002. He was also instrumental in the development of Dubai Internet City, a specialised technology hub, near Dubai Media City. Sheikh Maktoum has a degree in business administration from the American University in Dubai.
