Oman's National Hotels Co has signed a memorandum of understanding with UAE-based Tawasel International Trading Co to renovate the country's 22-year-old Sheraton Hotel, Times of Oman has reported. The property will boast a 700 to 1,100-capacity Crystal ballroom and a South American themed restaurant. The hotel will also have an indoor swimming pool replacing the bowling alley. Though the actual date of opening was not announced, the Sheraton Hotel, which has been closed for five years, is expected to have a 'soft opening' in the 'near future,' said Dr Omar Khader, managing partner, Tawasel.
