Shubaily Grand Mall project gathers steam

19 August 2005
Riyadh-based Saudi Constructioneers Establishment is carrying out structural works on the Shubaily Grand Mall project in the Eastern Province. Estimated to be worth SR 300 million ($80 million), the contract involves the construction of a three-level mall with a total built-up area of 250,000 square metres. The contract is due to be completed in the third quarter of 2006.

The Grand Mall project is being carried out in three packages. The local Riyadh Geo-Technic has carried out the piling contract and a tender is due to be issued imminently for the electro-mechanical and finishings package. The consultant is the local Omrania & Associates Architecture Engineering & Consultants; the client is the local Khalid Saud al-Shubaily for Real Estate Investment.

The mall is the centrepiece of a proposed 7 million-square-metre beachfront development planned at Al-Khobar by Shubaily. Other elements of the development include the construction of residential towers and recreational facilities.
