Siemens takes Kuwaiti transmission contracts

Germany’s Siemens has been awarded two contracts for the maintenance and upgrade of electricity transmission networks in Kuwait.

The first contract covers the overhaul of, and maintenance services for, the national control centre at Jabriya as well as sub-control centres at Shuaiba. The value of the contract is KD7.6m ($28.4m).

Siemens has also won a contract for the replacement of 132/300kV ground cables with overhead power lines. The contract is worth KD9.6m ($36m)

The Electricity & Water Ministry is the client for both projects.

Siemens is also the low bidder for a contract to operate and maintain 132/300kV substations across the country (MEED 4:9:08).
