German firm will supply and install substations under phase 13 of transmission expansion programme

Germany’s Siemens has been awarded a QR3.1bn ($851m) contract under Phase 13 of Qatar’s transmission expansion plan.

Under the contract, Siemens will design, supply and install 35 substations, which will be for 400kV, 220kV, 132kV, 66kV and 11kV voltage levels. The client is Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa).

The German technology firm was also awarded a $29m deal from Kahramaa to supply and install more than 2,170 medium-voltage switchgear boards.

MEED reported in April that L&T had been awarded an $817m contract for installing 30 new gas insulated substations under phase 13 of the transmission network expansion programme.
