New $1.3bn hospital will be built on Sowwah island
The joint venture of the local/Belgian Six Construct Abu Dhabi and South Korea’s Samsung Corporation has won the estimated AED4.7bn ($1.3bn) contract to build Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi on Sowwah Island.
The Cleveland Clinic will be built on Sowwah Island, between Reem Island and the Mina Zayed area of Abu Dhabi Island. It will be a 364-bed, 220,000-square-metre hospital with parking spaces for 3,200 cars.
Three contracting groups were shortlisted for the contract at the end of January. The other two bidders were the local/Australian Al-Habtoor Leighton Group, and the local Arabtec Construction with Greece’s Aktor (MEED 2:2:10).
Local developer Aldar Properties is managing the construction on behalf of Mubadala Healthcare, which is a unit of Abu Dhabi government-owned Mubadala Development Company.
