SNC Lavalin awarded Qatar gas-to-liquids contract

Canadian group to provide engineering consultancy and support services

Canada-based SNC Lavalin has been awarded a contract by Qatar’s Oryx GTL to provide engineering consultancy and support serves for its gas-to-liquids (GTL) complex at Ras Laffan Industrial City.

The five-year contract was awarded to SNC-Lavalin subsidiary Qatar Kentz. The agreement sets out predefined rates for work required at the facility, including general engineering, feasibility studies, modelling, drawings and documentation, the company said.

Oryx GTL is 51 per cent owned by state oil company Qatar Petroleum with South Africa’s Sasol holding a 49 per cent stake.

The plant is supplied with 330 million standard cubic feet a day of gas from the North field, which produces 34,000 barrels a day (b/d) of liquids.
