Dubai-based engineering firm to build gas compression and reinjection facilities near Hassi Messaoud

Algeria’s national energy company Sonatrach has signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with Dubai-based Dodsal Engineering & Construction to build gas compression and reinjection facilities in the Naili Abdelhamid New Area Northern Industrial Complex, an industrial estate north of Hassi Messaoud.

The EPC deal, worth KD49bn ($600m), was signed on 25 June and will see Dodsal construct the facilities over a period of 36 months.

The planned compression unit will have a capacity of 24 million cubic metres a day (cm/d) of gas and will be capable of compressing gas to 220 and 385 bars. A network of pipelines will also have to be constructed as part of the deal.

A statement released on Sonatrach’s website says, “the implementation of the agreement will maintain production at the Hassi-Messaoud field”.
