Spam email hit levels of around 88% of all messages sent this year, with over 100 billion sent out each day. In what security company MessageLabs' 2009 Annual Security Report describes as a turbulent year, cyber criminals took advantage of the global economic crisis, celebrity deaths and the panic surrounding the H1N1 flu virus to spread their malware.
