Spanish firm Aqualia has signed a joint venture (JV) agreement with Majis Industrial Services (Majis) to manage the operation and maintenance of all water services for Sohar Port for the next 20 years.
Aqualia will manage the complete water network, which will include water intake and pumpting services, desalination supply, water purification and sewage services.
The infrastructure will contain seawater extraction plants with a capacity of 700,000 cubic metres and hour (cm/h), a 20,000 cubic metre a day (cm/d) desalination plant, purification plant with a capacity of 10,000 cm/d, seawater outfall with a capacity of 600,000 cm/h and pumping and processing system. The port will also contain drinking water and sewage systems with a capacity of more than 50,000 cm/d.
