Strabag lands Libya infrastructure contract

Austrian construction company Strabag has secured a EUR434m ($663m) contract to modernise sections of infrastructure in parts of Libya's capital, Tripoli.

The work includes the construction of a water supply and sewage networks as well as the expansion of electricity and phone line networks in Tajura. The Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure is the client.

The project, Strabag’s first in Libya, triples its African project portfolio to EUR639m ($941m). Late last year, it was awarded work on the planned $1,350m Tripoli International Airport, which will be capable of handling 20 million passengers a year. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is the client (MEED 24:08:07).
