Sultan Ahmed al-Jaber

Biography: Sultan Ahmed al-Jaber is CEO of Masdar, a state-funded initiative, which involves the construction of a zero-carbon city.
Masdar is developing a 100MW concentrated solar power plant called Shams 1 in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi . Previously, Al-Jaber was senior projects manager at Mubadala Development Company. He also has experience in the oil and gas industry, working at Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and Abu Dhabi Gas Industries.
Al-Jaber is a board member of the Abu Dhabi Ship Building Company and sits on a steering committee for the Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century – a global body that provides a discussion forum for renewable energy.
He has a doctorate in business and economics from the UK’s Coventry University and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Southern California, in the US.
