One of the largest residential and tourism developments in the Eastern Province is to be inaugurated at the end of December by Second Deputy Prime Minister and Defence & Aviation Minister Prince Sultan bin Abdelaziz. The Sunset Beach project has been built at Aziziya, near Al-Khobar, by local investment group Fama Holdings.
The estimated SR 600 million ($160 million) development stretches along three kilometres of seafront, and covers a total area of 412,000 square metres. It comprises 251 chalets and villas, as well as leisure, sports and entertainment facilities and a marina.
Designs for the resort were carried out by Howard Field of the US and the local Zuhair Fayez & Associates. Turner Internationalof the US acted as project manager. Contractors that worked on the project include Al-Khodari & Sons Companyand Abdul Rahman al-Turki Group, both local, and the Riyadh-based Saudi Archirodon Overseas(MEED 28:11:97; 11:7:97; 1:11:96).
