A joint venture of Japan's Taisei Corporationand Lebanon's Arabian Construction Company (ACC)has been awarded the AED 539 million ($147 million) main construction contract Al-Mas tower at Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT) in Dubai. At 360 metres high the office tower will be the tallest building in the JLT development and will accommodate the diamond exchange and the headquarters of the Dubai Metals & Commodities Centre (DMCC - MEED 10:6:05).
The 26-month contract calls for the construction of a 65-storey tower, superstructure, finishings, parking and related facilities with a total built-up area of 150,000 square metres. The other bidders for the contract included the local/UK Al-Naboodah Laing O'Rourke, Sembcorpof Singapore and the local ETA Ascon. The project manager is the UK's Faith & Gould; Atkins, also of the UK, is the design consultant. Local property developer Nakheel is the client.
