Biography: Tamer Masoud holds a degree in naval science and is a master mariner and a nautical surveyor.

Tamer Masoud more than 40 years’ marine experience. He has spent 12 years at sea with the Egyptian navy, two years as a master of special support vessels, nine years as a harbour pilot and 20 years as harbour master. In 1988, he joined the Port of Fujairah as a harbour pilot and took up his current position in 1992, with responsibilities for the port and Dibba Sea Ports.

His principal remit is to expand the Port of Fujairah’s oil terminals, bulk terminal and tug fleet, and the Fujairah offshore anchorage area. Masoud is a registered marine expert in the Egyptian Insurance Supervisory Authority and a council member of the International Harbour Masters Association.

Masoud is also a member of several international and regional associations involved with port safety, security and environmental protection. Fujairah is set to double its oil storage capacity by the end of 2014 to 10.5 million cubic metres, making it one of the world’s biggest oil supply hubs.
