Fujairah-based company was first privately held wastewater collection and treatment system in Middle East
The Fujairah-based Tanqia is planning to treble the capacity of its wastewater treatment plant in the northern emirate in the next two years, MEEDs Mena Water conference was told on 30 September.
Ibrahim Elwan, chairman of Tanqia, said the company was pushing ahead with plans to treble the current 16,000 cubic-metre-a-day (cm/d) capacity to reach 48,000 cm/d in the next couple of years.
Tanqia was the first privately held wastewater collection and treatment system in the UAE and Middle East. In addition to the 16,000 cm/d treatment plant, it owns and operates a 300km wastewater collection network, containing primary and secondary networks and 30 pumping stations.
