Dutch engineering company to carry out study on gas network compressor station
Netherlands-based engineering group Tebodin has won a conceptual and design study for a new compression station in Abu Dhabis sales gas network, according to a source familiar with the project.
The pre-front-end-engineering-and-design (pre-feed) study was awarded by Abu Dhabi Gas Industries (Gasco).
A high-level feasibility study revealed that the addition of a compressor station to the sales gas network would allow Abu Dhabi to back-up in the event of an outage in the Dolphin Energy pipeline, which imports gas from Qatar.
A pipeline from Qatar connects to the Taweelah area in Abu Dhabi to export gas to Dubai and the northern emirates.
The northern emirates will have an alternative source of gas from the end of 2018 when Emirates LNG is set to begin importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) into Fujairah.
Tebodin has picked up several contracts in Abu Dhabi in recent months.
