Interest grows in Iranian economy
Officials from the Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) have said they will attend an international exhibition on Kish island later this year to promote foreign participation on the bourse.
The event will be held on 21-24 October and will introduce investment opportunities for foreigners in Iran.
Kish island is a free zone in the Persian Gulf and foreign investors do not need an entry visa to the region, so they will be able to easily attend the event, says Hamid Rouhbakhsh, public relations and international director at the TSE.
Foreigners are also able to open Iranian rial or foreign currency accounts with banks on the island.
The TSE also said it has recently hosted visits from Russian investment bank Renaissance Capital and the head of Korea Securities Depository. More than 120 foreign delegations, including global capital markets authorities, fund managers and investors, have visited the stock exchange as interest in the Iranian economy grows on the back of improving relations with the West.
