Tender issued for flood protection scheme in Oman

08 June 2008
A tender has been issued for a consultant to conduct a feasibility study and undertake the
detailed design of a flood protection dam scheme in the Hilti-Salahi catchments in Oman.

The consultant will also be required to recommend engineering solutions for the downstream areas, such as river and wadi diversion measures, in order to safeguard settlements downstream of the wadis.

The designing of the structures will take into account the recent cyclone Gonu, which hit Oman last summer.

The closing date for bids is 7 July.

The Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources is the client.

A number of firms have purchased bid documents including Safege, the UK's Atkins International, the Iranian firm, Mahad Ghodss Consulting Engineering, and Fichtner Consulting.
