Tenders issued for Muscat and Salalah airport maintenance facilities

19 January 2009
The Omani government has issued tenders for contracts to design and supervise the construction of new maintenance facilities at Muscat and Salalah international airports.

The Transport and Communication Ministry is continuing the expansion scheme at the two airports by planning a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility for each site.

The project will enhance Oman’s aviation services capability. It comes in addition to a wider scheme to overhaul the country’s transport and tourism infrastructure.

Bid documents are available until 18 February, and the deadline for submitting bids is 2 March.

A team of Denmark's Cowi and the local Larsen Architects & Consulting Engineers prepared the concept designs for the project, while a joint venture of France's Aeroports de Paris and Pakistan's National Engineering Services Pakistan & Partners is the project manager.
