Bid deadline for Duqm Port water scheme set for 25 February
Oman’s electricity and water authority has issued tenders for the construction of a water distribution network for Duqm Port.
The deadline for bids has been set for 25 February 2013.
The new port is part of a wider initiative to improve transport infrastructure at Duqm. Plans include a free zone, industrial area and petrochemicals complex.
The Port of Duqm Company is overseeing the investment, operation and management of the port and industrial zone. The company is a joint venture of the government of Oman and the Netherlands’ Antwerp Port Authority, set up in 2010.
In September 2011, Omani contractor Strabag won a $210.3m contract to build access roads and infrastructure at the $2.6bn Duqm port and dry dock.
