Tenders issued for Saadiyat bridge

30 June 2006

The local Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), has invited 10 groups to bid by 26 August for the proposed bridge linking Saadiyat and Abu Dhabi island.

The project is one of the largest infrastructure schemes in the emirate. It entails the construction of a: 1,455-metre-long segmental box girder bridge, with five carriageways running in each direction for road traffic and two central lanes reserved for a provisional rail link; a road between the bridge and the existing Mina road on Abu Dhabi island; and two 200-metre ramps leading onto Saadiyat island.

The works are expected to take about 36 months to complete. US-based Parsons International is the consultant (MEED 12:5:06).
