Saudi Aramco platform was carrying out maintenance on the Safaniya field in the Gulf
Three workers are reported to be missing after a Saudi Aramco mobile maintenance platform sank off the Gulf coast of Saudi Arabia on 27 December, according to local media reports.
The platform was carrying out maintenance of the offshore Safaniya field when it went down. The platform was located about 30 kilometres off the coast of Al-Khafji in the Divided Zone between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
A total of 24 of the 27 workers on board the platform were rescued by the Saudi coastguard. Saudi Aramco stated that a full probe would be conducted into the accident.
