  • Towell wins contract to build two residential zones at Saraya Bandar Jissah
  • Local contractor is already working on one residential zone
  • Leighton is building the resort’s hotel

Towell Construction & Company (TCC), part of the WJ Towell & Company, has been awarded the construction contract for two residential zones known as Mameer and Wajd at the Saraya Bandar Jissah resort development in Oman.

In 2014, TCC was also awarded the contract for the construction of another residential zone named Zaha. Also in 2014, Leighton Middle East Contracting, the local arm of Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG), has won a RO30m contract to build a five-star, 206-room hotel.

In 2013, Dubai-based Jumeirah Group signed a management agreement to operate the hotel and UK-based Atkins was appointed to manage the infrastructure works for the development.

India’s Nagarjuna Construction Company International worked on the enabling package last year.

The consultants working on the project include US-based RTKL as the architect, the UK’s Halcrow Yolles as the engineer and the UK’s Aedas as the interior designer.

Saraya Holdings is developing the project in joint venture with Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran).
