17 March 2014

Chinese firm Trina Solar will install 2MW solar panels for Jordan food supplier

The local Fresh Fruits Company (FFC) has awarded China’s Trina Solar an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to install 2MW solar rooftop panels in Jordan.

The panels are scheduled to deliver 3,200 megawatt hours (MWh) of power a year, which will reduce carbon emissions by about 38,400 tonnes a year.

FFC plans to use the renewable energy for its stores and warehouses in Jordan’s capital Amman. Work is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2014. Trina Solar outbid 20 other local and international companies to win the contract.

Other solar projects in Jordan include a 2MW grid-connected PV plant in Azra and a 65MW-75MW PV plant in Quweira.
