TURKEY: Bids invited for hydroelectric schemes

The Energy & Natural Resources Ministry together with the State Hydraulic Works has invited bids on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis for a further 44 dams and hydroelectric power plants with a total generating capacity of about 4,500 MW. This follows a bid invitation for 11 other BOT hydroelectric plants recently with capacities of up to 1,200 MW (MEED 11:10:96).

Among the further 44 projects with bid closing dates ranging between the end of February and the end of June are the 222-MW Alkumlu dam on the river Tigris, the 242-MW Gursogut dam on the Sakarya river, and the 461-MW Doganli, the 245-MW Cukurca and the 208-MW Hakkari dams on the Zap river.

Bids have also been received by the Turkish Electricity Generation & Transmission Corporation (TEAS) for the operation and maintenance of 30 small hydroelectric power plants.
