Prequalification. Carrying out package 6 of the Cumhuriyet water treatment works as part of the Greater Istanbul water supply second stage project - the Melen system. The works, to be carried out between Sile and Kagithane, comprise the pipeline between the Cumhuriyet header tank and Osmankuyu- Kagithane as follows: 1) transportation of pipes from specified collection points; 2) pipe installation including all civil works such as trenching, bedding and backfilling; 3) supply, transport and installation of valves and other pipeline fittings; 4) construction of special pipeline structures, reinforced concrete valve chambers, and road and river crossings; 5) construction of tunnel portal structures; 6) construction of large-diameter water tunnels with reinforced concrete and steel linings; 7) construction of large-diameter buried reinforced concrete conduits; and 8) construction of pipeline service roads. Financed by Japan's Overseas Economic Co-operation Fund.
