Local developer Emaar has awarded Turkey’s Tav two tower construction contracts in its Downtown district of Dubai.

The first project, known as Il Primo, involves the construction of a residential buildings in the Opera District next to the Dubai Opera House. One tower will be 356 metres high with 88 storeys, the other will be 300 metres tall with 71 storeys.

The local IFG is working on the foundations and substructure. The consultants working on the project include US-based KPF, the UK’s WSP, and US-based Aecom.

The second project, known as The Address Residence Dubai Opera, is also in the Opera District. It involves the construction of two mixed-use towers. One is a 65-storey residential tower, the other is a 55-storey hotel and serviced apartment building.

The local Emirates Falcon Electromechanical Company (Efeco) is the mechanical, which is owned by the Dubai-listed Arabtec Holding, engineering and plumbing contractor for the project.

The consultants working on the project are Lebanon’s Khatib & Alami, US-based Cumming and US-based Aecom.

In November last year, the local Target Engineering Construction Company was awarded the contract for the second phase of the construction of the Forte residential towers in Downtown Dubai.

The works involve the construction of a podium and twin towers of 67 and 46 floors. Target, like Efeco, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Arabtec Holding.

Emaar is tendering other tower projects in Dubai. It is preparing to receive bids from contractors on 15 January for the contract to build the world’s tallest structure at Dubai Creek Harbour. It has also set 18 January as the tender closing date for the contract to build its Vida Residences development on the site of the recently demolished yacht club in Dubai Marina.
