The UAE Securities and Commodities Authority has said that 12 brokerages in the country have filed requests to suspend operations this year after volumes and revenue declined, Bloomberg has reported. Five companies received approval to shut and their licences have been suspended for one year, according to Ibrahim Obeid Al Zaabi, deputy chief executive officer for licensing, supervision and enforcement. The companies may be able to resume operations after meeting registration requirements, he said.
