Blackberry has 500,000 subscribers in the UAE
Etisalat has said that only a few of the 500,000 BlackBerry subscribers in the country are switching to other smart phones, despite an imminent suspension of services, Reuters has reported. “The number of subscribers in Blackberry has not decreased. It hasn’t been affected yet,” an Etisalat executive with access to subscriber data was quoted as saying by the news service. “We are one of the biggest markets for Blackberry in the Middle East and I am sure a deal will be reached with RIM,” the executive said, adding that the deadline could be extended if a final agreement was not finalised by 11 October.
