The UAE ambassador to Moscow says Gulf states are considering further economic pressure on Qatar
A senior UAE diplomat has said fresh sanctions could be imposed on Qatar if it does not end its alleged support of terrorist organisations.
The UAEs ambassador to Moscow, Omar Ghobash, who spoke to the UKs The Guardian newspaper said that Gulf States are considering further economic pressure such as reducing commercial links with countries that continue to trade with Qatar.
The comments come days after Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt issued Qatar with a list of 13 demands that it must comply with within 10 days (3 July) in order for the economic blockade to be lifted.
The demands were quickly rejected by Doha, which said that negotiations would not take place as long as the blockade continues.
Talks between the Gulf states and Doha are being mediated by Kuwait, which played a similar role in 2014.
