Farnek will provide facilities management services for eight national pavilions at Expo 2020, including Saudi Arabia and China

UAE-based Farnek has secured facilities management (FM) contracts worth AED16.7m ($4.55m) with eight country pavilions at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Farnek will provide cleaning and operational services for a six-month period for the national pavilions of China, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Singapore, Philippines, Bahrain, Morocco and Pakistan.

The largest contract was awarded by the Saudi Arabia pavilion, the second largest country pavilion at Expo 2020 after the UAE. The value of FM contracts awarded for individual pavilions has not been revealed.

Farnek has highlighted that it will deploy a team of 130 employees for the Saudi Arabia pavilion.

“The Saudi Arabian pavilion presents us with a unique challenge which simply put is its sheer scale," said Farnek CEO Markus Oberlin. "During the six-month Expo 2020, it will be open to the public for up to 16 hours per day, which will require a dedicated team of over 130 technical and cleaning staff, working shifts throughout the show."

The China pavilion is another major contract for Farnek, according to its official statement. A team of 80 employees will provide security, cleaning and pest control services.

The Switzerland pavilion, which is expecting to attract 15,000 visitors a day, will use a team of 30 technicians from Farnek to manage its innovation-led pavilion.

Farnek is also providing hard and soft FM services for the entire Opportunity district at Expo. Its hospitality division was recently appointed to manage reservation services, concierge, front office services and housekeeping for 2,273 new apartments in Expo Village.
