Country has alternative energy target of 42 per cent by 2020
The UAE will grant $100m to Morocco for the development of solar and wind power plants in the villages and outlying areas of the country.
Renewable energy is an increasingly important part of Moroccos economy. Its national energy strategy has set an alternative power target of 42 per cent of installed capacity by 2020.
The Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (Masen) is proceeding with several large-scale schemes. In August, it prequalified groups for the next phase of its Noor solar power complex in Ouarzazate, located in the southern-central region of the country.
