Description: Samsung Engineering was awarded the contract for the Fertil-2 Ammonia and Urea Fertiliser Project by Fertil, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) in the UAE. The Fertil-2 plant, which is the largest of its type in the UAE, consists of ammonia and urea processing plants with an installed capacity of 2,000 tonnes a day (t/d) of ammonia and 3,500 t/d of urea, and increased Fertils total urea capacity from 800,000 tonnes a year (t/y) to 2.1 million t/y. The project has enabled Fertil to double its output of urea fertiliser and has helped strengthen the UAEs position as a major player in the global petrochemicals market. The project contributed substantially to the GCCs economy by employing regional residents in the operations and maintenance of the new plant.
